Fitsum Ermias Petros is a Ph.D. student in the mechanical engineering department at Columbia University. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with a certificate in Robotics and Intelligent Systems at Princeton University. She has been involved in various research projects ranging from the development and evaluation of biomechanical devices for detecting blood hemolysis and cancer ablation to acoustically evaluating battery health. Her current research includes an investigation of human balance-control patterns for use in rehabilitation strategies. Her interests include assistive technologies, diagnostic tools, and wearable devices. In addition to Robotics, she is interested in modern art, dance and theater. She is also passionate about mentoring and teaching as well.
